Differences affecting the student's educational experiences would be hard to say. Actually, it would depend on the student and what they are trying to get out of their college life. Rather it is Ivey League or not in the end they are receiving legitimate education. However, it could have an effect after graduation when it comes down to job hunting. It is possible with Harvard written on one application and Salem State University written on the other that employees could grab towards that brand.
As far as the differences effecting faculty experiences, probably would not be that much of an issue particularly at Harvard University. Harvard is considered more high-tech and more advanced in technology and academics when compared with Salem State University. Faculty as Salem State University does carry degree from some prestigious colleges and unless that pay is different with that of an Ivey League school than it might not be much of an issue. I think that one would know in terms rather or not if there is a high turn-over rate at the universities and also their grade evaluation of the schools.
It is apparent that people are aware of the educational disparities of the schools because one is an Ivey League school and the other is more ordinary. Even the building structure and the surrounding environment make a difference when students and faculty both make decisions when applying to schools. However, I think people become more aware of these disparities when they are published.
In terms of social equity I think both school should be advertised the same when it comes to education. In other words because one is more prestigious than the other does not mean that students are not performing just as good or getting and less education. It is all about the quality not the brand...
On the other hand, a student that comes from less could think that their school does not hold much weight and therefore could prevent them from going further in the job world.
All of these differences should not matter but they do. Every year people are doing their research and they want the best college out there. Most would love an Ivey league school. It is carved in our minds that the best is at those places that are considered to be more prestigious.
